The Gonstead System is a complete form of Chiropractic perfected by Dr. Clarence S. Gonstead. He practiced from 1923 to 1978 in the small town of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin.
Not many Chiropractors decide to take on the challenge of utilizing the greatest system for removing nerve interference (Subluxation). When using the Gonstead system, a doctor looks at many different signs to determine exactly where the problem or Subluxation is. We use an instrument called a Nervoscope that detects very slight temperature variations in the skin to help pin point where the Subluxation exists and to help monitor the correction of it. We also use palpation (touching) and motion palpation (moving the joint to determine which directions the joint does not move well in). The Gonstead system also utilizes full spine imaging to take a look at the body and spine in its entirety.
No other Chiropractic technique takes the time to utilize all of these elements in finding the elusive Subluxation. This is why the Gonstead system is considered the Cadillac of Chiropractic.
